The Bears on Thursday signed two veterans who participated in this week’s minicamp on a tryout basis, safety Sherrod Martin and running back Daniel Thomas.
To make room on their roster, the Bears waived kicker Jeremiah Detmer, quarterback Pat Devlin and tight end Jacob Maxwell, leaving one spot still open.
Martin has appeared in 72 games with 38 starts over six seasons with the Panthers (2009-13) and Jaguars (2014), recording 195 tackles, eight interceptions, 22 pass breakups, four tackles-for-loss, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 19 special-teams tackles.
