The Bears will go without tight end Trey Burton for their season opener against the Packers tonight.
Burton was in question throughout the preseason as he worked back from a sports hernia and suffered what general manager Ryan Pace called “a mild groin strain” last week. He did go through a full practice leading up to the Green Bay game and was expected to be a game-time decision.
Here are the Bears’ inactives:
TE Trey Burton
CB Kevin Toliver II
LB Josh Woods
OT Rashaad Coward
WR Riley Ridley
DE Abdullah Anderson
RB Kerrith Whyte
Burton is an irreplaceable part of the offense and by far the team’s most proven pass-catching tight end.
