The Bears have hired former University of Texas head coach Tom Herman as an offensive analyst and special projects coach, the team announced on Monday.
Herman, 45, is coming off of a four-year stint with the Longhorns, during which his teams finished with a 32-18 accumulated record. He was let go after the 2020 season, despite finishing 7-3 and coming away with a win in the Alamo Bowl. Texas made bowl appearances in all four of Herman’s seasons as head coach, winning all four games in the process. His best season came in 2018, when the Longhorns finished 10-4 and won the Sugar Bowl.
