The Bears have agreed to sign former Chiefs safety Jordan Lucas to a one-year, $1 million contract, per NFL Network.
While the team is landing someone else to compete for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix’s old starting strong safety job — alongside Deon Bush, the presumptive leader, for now — they’re also getting a special teams stalwart. In 14 games for the world champions last year, Lucas played 63.3 percent of their special teams snaps. He played 47 percent of them the year before.
The Dolphins selected Lucas, a Penn State alum, in the sixth round in 2016. The Chiefs traded a seventh-round pick for him on the eve of the 2018 season.
