The best way to find late-round gems in the draft is to focus on exceptional traits, and the Bears they landed a special talent by picking Maryland linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II in the fourth round at No. 132 overall.
Hyppolite, who played five seasons at Maryland, clocked a 4.39 in the 40-yard dash at his pro day last month. That would’ve been the best time at his position in the combine had he been invited.
He had 66 tackles last season, including seven for loss, and an interception.
Hyppolite likely will compete for a backup spot and a role on special teams.
