Former star middle linebacker Brian Urlacher presented a $50,000 check on behalf of the Bears Monday evening to the Coal City High School football team.

The money reportedly will be used to help repair damage done to the school’s athletic fields and scoreboard by a devastating tornado June 22.

Urlacher surprised the players and coaches, who knew the Bears were going to present them with a check but had no idea it was being delivered by a future Hall of Famer.

Coal City is located about 60 miles southwest of Chicago.
