On Monday the Chicago Bears designated defensive lineman John Jenkins to return from injured reserve.
The Bears placed Jenkins on injured reserve on September 24, which was a few days following their week 2 game against the New York Giants. This year’s injured reserve rule allows teams to bring players back after only three weeks.
During the Giants game Jenkins tore a ligament in his thumb, but he played though it and finished the game amassing 26 snaps on defense (40%) and another 4 on special teams (18%).
By designating him for return, the Bears have opened a three week window in which he can practice.
