The Chicago Bears activated quarterback Tyler Bray from their practice squad, the team announced on Wednesday. As a corresponding move, the team released cornerback Marcus Cooper.
Bray’s promotion comes in the wake of the news that Mitchell Trubisky will likely not play in Thursday’s game against the Detroit Lions. He threw for 652 passing yards in four preseason games this year, adding one touchdown pass and two interception with a 61.9 completion percentage. He will serve as the primary backup for Chase Daniel if Trubisky does not dress with the team.
