CHICAGO – The postseason dream is over.
In a miserable performance on Sunday, the Bears allowed the depleted 49ers to escape with a 26-20 overtime victory, effectively crushing Chicago's faint playoff hopes.
Where to begin?
The Bears deserve to be 5-7 after that lousy effort.
Robbie Gould's missed 35-yard field goal at the end of regulation put an exclamation point on the offense's inability to capitalize on facing one of the NFL's lowest rated defenses. The offense looked stuck in the mud most of the afternoon, even though the 49ers seemed to endure a seemingly endless barrage of injuries to their key defenders.
