LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears coach John Fox can empathize with the Minnesota Vikings, who spent four-plus hours stranded on their team charter last Friday after their plane skidded off the runway upon landing in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Asked about Minnesota’s mishap, Fox shared a story from coaching in the USFL in 1985.
“Long time ago, San Antonio, Texas, coaching with the LA Express: We were coming back from the game and obviously the little whatever-you-want-to-call-it guy [someone driving a vehicle on the runway] got a little zealous and he rammed into, I think it was one of those twin engines on the rear,” Fox said.
