After an efficient outing last week, the Bears believed the next step in Caleb Williams’ development was for him to be dangerous when throwing deep.
He did that Sunday, hitting receiver DJ Moore for touchdowns of 34 and 30 yards, respectively, to claim a 27-7 halftime lead over the lowly Panthers at Soldier Field.
Williams’ first touchdown improved upon another bugaboo, too — before Sunday, the Bears had scored a total of three points in the first quarter. The second pass to Moore came with 24 seconds left in the first half, after the Bears stopped the Panthers on fourth down.
