The Bears on Monday officially placed quarterback Jay Cutler on injured reserve and signed cornerback Johnthan Banks.
Cutler injured the labrum in his right throwing shoulder Nov. 20 in a road loss to the Giants. He initially rehabbed the injury in an attempt to return to action this season, but it did not respond as well as hoped and he underwent surgery Saturday.
Banks was selected by the Buccaneers in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Mississippi State.
