The Bears added running back Kerrith Whyte Jr. to their practice squad on Friday, the team announced.
Whyte, selected with the No. 222 overall pick, was a seventh-round pick in this year’s draft. was waived on Thursday to make room on the roster for tight end Bradley Sowell, who himself was waived on Monday so the Bears could promote defensive lineman Abdullah Anderson to the 53-man roster. No team claimed Whyte on waivers, so he became eligible to be brought back to the practice squad.
Though Whyte was able to crack the 53-man roster, he has been a healthy scratch in every game to start the 2019 season.
