The Bears are revamping their offensive staff as they have fired Offensive Coordinator Mark Helfrich, Tight Ends coach Kevin Gilbride, Offensive Line coach Harry Hiestand & Assistant Special Teams coach Brock Olivo. Matt Nagy is looking to to jump start this offense around Mitchell Trubisky. If Trubisky isn’t the answer, could the Bears trade for Redskins’ quarterback Alex Smith? Smith had the best statistical seasons of his career under Matt Nagy when he was the Chiefs’ Offensive Coordinator. Smith is still recovering from his leg injury, but insists he wants to return in 2020.
In other Bears news, Chicago has committed to Eddy Piniero as their kicker for 2020. Piniero had a midseason slump, but finished strong by making his final 11 kicks of the 2019 season. Ryan Pace also announced that the team is considering surgery for Mitch Trubisky’s left shoulder. Trubisky played most of the season with a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder.
