Jesse Lingard can claim to be West Ham’s signing of the century after inspiring his team to a feat they had not achieved for nearly 100 years.
The on-loan Manchester United star’s electric first-half performance delivered a league double over Wolves for the first time since the 1922-23 season as Moyes’ team barged past Chelsea and into the top four.
Lingard now has six goals and three assists since his winter move from Old Trafford. Many more performances like this will take West Ham into the Champions League and Lingard into England’s starting XI for the Euro 2020 opener against Croatia.
