West Ham have pulled out of a £15million move for Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri after failing to agree personal terms.
The Hammers are not willing to meet the 28-year-old's wage demands and while there is a chance they could revisit the issue before the window shuts, they are now looking at other targets.
David Moyes is keen to provide competition for Aaron Cresswell, who turns 33 later this year and is currently the only natural left-back in the squad.
Right-back Ben Johnson did deputise on the opposite flank last season but he has been playing in the centre of defence this season such is the extent of West Ham's current injury crisis.
