West Ham have emerged as serious contenders to sign forward Elye Wahi from Montpellier.
The French side rejected a bid from Chelsea last month for the 20-year-old.
The interest in Wahi has been repotedly driven by Tim Steidten, West Ham’s technical director.
The club have held positive early talks with representatives of the player and Montpellier but face competition.
Wahi is valued at €35million (£30m) by Montpellier.
