England Under-21s lost to their French counterparts 3-2 at Bondoufle on Monday night.
And fans were treated to some quality play, with goals scored by Duncan Watmore and Moussa Dembele of the highest order.
The Sunderland attacker opened the scoring, chipping Thomas Didillon in the France goal, although the hosts drew level before the break, Celtic's Dembele thundering a shot past Angus Gunn of Manchester City.
And in the second half, Dembele struck again, sending a lovel free-kick into the back of the net to give France the lead.
Lewis Baker equalised for the visitors with a free-kick of his own, before Wylan Cyprien scored his own set-piece to restore the hosts' lead - which ended up winning the game for France.
