UEFA open disciplinary proceedings against Roma over monkey chants aimed at Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger

UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against Roma following racist chanting during Wednesday night's Champions League game with Chelsea.

Antonio Rudiger, a former Roma player who moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer, is said to have been the target on monkey chants during the game which eventually ended in a 3-3 draw.

The case will be dealt with by UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary body when it meets on November 16.

While playing for Roma last season, Rudiger was the subject of racist abuse from the stands during an Italian Cup clash with Lazio in March, with the German defender later pleading with the authorities to act.
