Tottenham facing 20,000 empty seats for showdown with London rivals Chelsea

Safety fears mean there will be as many as 20,000 empty seats for the Premier League clash between Tottenham and Chelsea on Sunday.

70,000 tickets have been sold but restrictions imposed by Brent Council and the Metropolitan Police mean large swathes of seats will remain unsold for the highly-anticipated London derby.

The match has gone on 'restricted general sale', meaning only home fans who registered on the club's website before July 1 can buy tickets, reports The Times.

Spurs can sell up to the capacity 90,000 tickets for all their home fixtures this season, but the safety advisory group - made up of representatives from Brent Council, the Met, London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade - have imposed restrictions.
