John Terry was never a stranger to a debate during his playing career — but the Chelsea legend may now be heading for a row with his local parish council.
The ex-Blues centre-half wants to extend his Surrey mansion close to his former employers’ Cobham training ground.
Terry, 39, is seeking planning permission to demolish a conservatory and build a single-storey extension, which will provide a lounge area and home gym.

His planning agent says the revamp will improve security at the plush, 18th-century property ‘which is important for the owners given their past experiences’ and adds that it will not be a ‘disproportionate addition’ to the Aston Villa assistant manager’s sprawling pad.
