Paris Saint-Germain failed with a late move for former Stoke midfielder Steven N'Zonzi, who was also a summer target for Chelsea.
N'Zonzi has been on Chelsea's radar since January and was extensively linked with them following the sale of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United.
In the end, Chelsea concluded a deal for Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater and N'Zonzi stayed put at Sevilla.
But now France Football has revealed that Ligue 1 giants PSG attempted to prise the 28-year-old away from Spain during the closing hours of the transfer window.
It was current PSG coach Unai Emery who brought in N'Zonzi to Sevilla from Stoke in 2015 and he wanted a reunion with the midfielder in France.
