The world of football has paid tribute to Ray Wilkins after the former England international midfielder died on Wednesday following a heart attack, aged 61.

Wilkins began his career at Chelsea - where he was named captain aged 18 - before playing for Manchester United, AC Milan, Rangers and Queen's Park Rangers, among others.

He later managed QPR, and returned to coach at Chelsea, having two spells in caretaker charge. He played 84 times for England - playing 10 games as captain - and featured at the 1982 and 1986 World Cups.
