Normal service resumed with a third title in four seasons. The £65m signing of defender Ruben Dias from Benfica was a game-changer, seemingly curing defensive vulnerability at a stroke. The title was inevitable once they hit their stride before the turn of the year and recorded 21 successive wins in all competitions.
