Olivier Giroud now wants to stay at Chelsea as he aims for new contract just weeks after being certain to leave in January transfer window

Olivier Giroud is eager to stay in west London for the foreseeable future with the in-form Frenchman aiming to secure a new contract at Chelsea.

The World Cup winner looked a certain January transfer window exit after the 33-year-old grew frustrated with a lack of game time with the Premier League club.

A move to join Inter Milan was very close to materialising while a switch to arch rivals Tottenham was on the cards before Chelsea pulled the plug on both deals having failed to sign a replacement.
