New Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has revealed France manager Didier Deschamps told him to leave Arsenal to boost his World Cup hopes.
Giroud could make his Chelsea debut in Monday’s Premier League clash against Watford, having moved to Stamford Bridge on deadline day of the January transfer window.
The 31-year-old Frenchman was also wanted by the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Roma, but he opted to remain in London and joined the Blues in a £18million deal.
His move across the capital comes having fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal this season, and Giroud has revealed he was urged to change clubs for the good of his international career.
