LONDON -- Michael Emenalo has resigned from his position as Chelsea technical director, sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.
The 46-year-old, one of owner Roman Abramovich's most trusted advisors, has left Chelsea after 10 years working across the scouting and technical departments amid reports of tensions between head coach Antonio Conte and the club's hierarchy.
Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday with Emenalo in attendance, but the main talking point from the match was Conte's bold decision to drop David Luiz -- an Abramovich favourite and key member of last season's Premier League title-winning team -- from his match day squad.
