Marcos Alonso hails Chelsea teenagers Jude Soonsup-Bell, Harvey Vale and Xaiver Simons for giving up their Christmas holiday to play in their Carabao Cup quarter-final win at Brentford

Marcos Alonso has hailed the three Chelsea teenagers who started their 2-0 Carabao Cup quarter-final win over Brentford on Wednesday - revealing they gave up some of their Christmas holiday to play in the tie.

Due to a coronavirus crisis at Stamford Bridge which saw seven Chelsea players test positive last week, Thomas Tuchel started strikers Jude Soonsup-Bell, 17, and Harvey Vale, 18, up front against the Bees, with 18-year-old Xavier Simons at wing-back.

The Blues ran out 2-0 winners against Brentford to move into the last four, with Spanish full-back Alonso giving his seal of approval to the three teenagers.
