Manchester United are set to miss out on the signing of Frenkie de Jong, with the midfielder poised to remain at Barcelona.
As reported by Sport, de Jong is prepared to accept a pay cut in order to remain at the Nou Camp.
United have pursued de Jong all summer and Chelsea have also expressed an interest in the Dutchman but it now looks like a deal won't materialise.
De Jong is owed £17million by Barcelona in amortisations and back payments but he and his agent will now hold talks with the club about restructuring his contract.
