Liverpool's signing of Moises Caicedo sees Jurgen Klopp's 2016 quotes come back to haunt him - as fans dig them up after the Reds agree to the fifth biggest transfer of ALL TIME

Jurgen Klopp has found his own words have come back to haunt him as Liverpool look to complete the £110m record transfer for Brighton's Moises Caicedo.

The 21-year-old is looking likely to join up with Klopp's Reds in north-west England, as Liverpool outbid Chelsea for the Ecuadorian midfielder, with the offer set to make Caicedo the fifth most expensive player in history.

But the move has more than a hint of irony, after Klopp's words in 2016 resurfaced, when Manchester United spent £100m to secure Paul Pogba's services.

Back in 2016, Klopp said: 'If you bring one player in for £100m and he gets injured, then it all goes through the chimney.
