Jurgen Klopp has found his own words have come back to haunt him as Liverpool look to complete the £110m record transfer for Brighton's Moises Caicedo.
The 21-year-old is looking likely to join up with Klopp's Reds in north-west England, as Liverpool outbid Chelsea for the Ecuadorian midfielder, with the offer set to make Caicedo the fifth most expensive player in history.
But the move has more than a hint of irony, after Klopp's words in 2016 resurfaced, when Manchester United spent £100m to secure Paul Pogba's services.
Back in 2016, Klopp said: 'If you bring one player in for £100m and he gets injured, then it all goes through the chimney.
