At one stage stage during England under-21s’ recent triumphant European Championships campaign, Levi Colwill put his foot on the ball, bringing the game to a total standstill for about 30 seconds, and did not move it on until he was good and ready.
It was a rather fitting, as well as memorable, incident given how things are going for Colwill – he is making them happen at his pace in every sense.
On the pitch and inspired by the teachings of ‘perfectionist’ Roberto de Zerbi at Brighton last season, Colwill forced his way into the Seagulls side and his development as an eye-catching ball-playing defender who relishes the responsibility for starting attacks accelerated.
