With just one full day remaining until the summer transfer window closes, there is still a sizeable amount of business for Chelsea to undertake. In almost six weeks since Alvaro Morata officially joined the Premier League champions on July 21, the club have not been able to add further reinforcements despite the huge holes left in the squad via eight permanent departures and an army of players loaned to other clubs.
It is no secret that the most sparsely populated areas are at wing-back and central midfield. Unless remedied quickly, the current lack of options could be fatal to the club's chances of progressing through their Champions League group or maintaining a respectable defence of their title.
