Karim Benzema has stood by his comments suggesting Olivier Giroud isn't of the same standard as himself.
Benzema used an unflattering analogy to describe the difference in quality between the two players while on an Instagram Q&A on Sunday evening.
Speaking to French actor and comedian Thomas N'Gijol, the Real Madrid star, when asked about the difference betweeen himself and the Chelsea striker, said: 'You don't confuse F1 with go karting. And I'm being kind. Next... and I know I'm F1.'
Seeking to clarify his comments on Monday, Benzema attempted to play down the situation by pointing to his words on Giroud's impact in the France squad, but he refused to go back on his original statement.
