Chelsea have told Kai Havertz that he must either extend his existing deal at Stamford Bridge or they will look to move him on.
The Blues are playing hardball over player contracts in line with the policy brought in under Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital and want to see Havertz tied down to a new contract.
The German midfielder is wanted by Real Madrid who are interesting in luring the Chelsea star to Spain as they reassess their attacking options.
Havertz has two years remaining on the five-year deal that he signed when he joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 and now faces a difficult choice ahead of the summer transfer window opening.
