John Terry celebrates Chelsea captaincy: 15 times he was Mr. Chelsea

Dec. 5 marks the 15th anniversary of the first time John Terry captained Chelsea in December 2001, stepping up in the absence of the injured Marcel Desailly to lead the team in a 1-0 defeat against Charlton Athletic.

In the summer of 2004 he had been given the honour permanently, and Terry is now far and away the Blues' longest-serving captain.

To mark the occasion, ESPN FC takes a look back at 15 times when Terry showed why many at Stamford Bridge call him "Mr Chelsea".

1. Chelsea debut

Terry made his first Blues appearance as an 86th minute substitute for Dan Petrescu in a 4-1 victory over Aston Villa in the League Cup in October 1998, to a huge cheer from Stamford Bridge.
