Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink feels Kalvin Phillips is worthy of a place in England's World Cup squad despite his lack of game time at Manchester City this season.
Phillips underwent surgery on a shoulder problem earlier this term, and is yet to start a match for Pep Guardiola's side since arriving at the club in the summer.
He returned to the squad for City's 2-0 Carabao Cup win against Chelsea, and came off the bench in the second half to get some much-needed minutes under his belt. With Gareth Southgate set to pick his 26-man squad for Qatar on Thursday, Hasselbaink believes Phillips will have been told that he has made the cut, and thinks it would be the right decision to gamble on the midfielder's fitness.
