Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has reported that he suffered racist abuse during Borussia Dortmund’s Europa League clash against Serie A side Atalanta.
The Belgian ace, currently on loan at Dortmund, said on Twitter that he heard ‘monkey noises’ from the stands in Italy.
Thursday night’s game finished 1-1 but Dortmund progressed to the next round 4-3 on aggregate, with Batshuayi scoring twice in the first-leg.
Atalanta have previous offenses related to racism. In January, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly was subjected to racist chants during a Serie A game and the club received a suspended one-game stand closure.
