Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has wasted no time in commencing a war of words ahead of Wednesday's Coppa Italia final by insisting Maurizio Sarri 'cheated' on him when he left the club in 2018.
Sarri, a born and raised Neapolitan, spent three years at the club having been handed the opportunity by De Laurentiis after managing Empoli.
He left in 2018 to spend a season at Chelsea in the Premier League and is now back in Italian football with Napoli's bitter rivals, Juventus. The two teams will fight it out for the Coppa Italia trophy this week and the build-up represented an ideal time for De Laurentiis to criticise his former employee.
