Graham Potter has quelled England World Cup injury scares over Conor Gallagher, explaining the Chelsea midfielder was forced off after 15 minutes due to illness, not injury during their their goalless draw with Brentford

Graham Potter has quelled injury concerns over Conor Gallagher after the Chelsea startlet was substituted just 15 minutes into their match with Brentford because of an illness.

Initially, his exit from the field looked to spell further woes for Gareth Southgate ahead of the World Cup, with Gallagher forced to leave the field early on Wednesday night.

The 22-year-old, who is expected to be named in Southgate's provisional squad, walked slowly from the field after it first appeared that he had suffered a knock challenging for a ball with defender Ethan Pinnock.

He was subsequently replaced by Mateo Kovacic, but Potter later delivered a promising update on the midfielder revealing his player was just feeling ill and would likely make a quick recovery.
