Borussia Monchengladbach have put themselves in a position to sign Andreas Christensen permanently but convincing Chelsea to sell their promising defender remains a "tricky situation," according to sporting director Max Eberl.
Christensen, 20, is in the second of a two-season loan deal with Gladbach, where he has been a regular starter in the Bundesliga and Champions League and established himself as one of the brightest young defensive talents in Europe.
Gladbach have made no secret of their desire to turn Christensen's loan into a permanent deal, and last summer Eberl said that his club were willing to break their transfer record of €15 million paid to secure Christoph Kramer from Bayer Leverkusen.
