Former Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton is reportedly in talks to 'spearhead a rescue bid' for Chelsea after owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK Government, leaving the West London club in turmoil.
Abramovich was one of seven oligarchs to have their assets frozen amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine, due to the Chelsea owner's close ties to Vladimir Putin.
The Premier League on Saturday also disqualified Abramovich as the director of Chelsea, though the club previously received a special licence from the Government allowing them to continue playing.
