Former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder Gus Poyet has emerged as a candidate for the vacant Alaves job.
The 49-year-old, who has previously managed Brighton and Sunderland, is out of work having resigned from his position in charge at Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Alaves are in the hunt for a new manager following their decision to dimiss Luis Zubeldia following the side's miserable start to the campaign.
And now, according to Cadena Cope, Poyet is high on their list of potential replacements after former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka, among others, turned them down.
