Former Chelsea youth prodigy Izzy Brown announced his retirement from football on Thursday, after struggling to recover from two surgeries to repair a ruptured Achilles.
The attacking midfielder won the FA Youth Cup on two occasions with the Blues, but only made one first team appearance for the club amid seven loan spells.
Brown was once tipped by Jose Mourinho as a certainty to play for England, alongside Dominic Solanke and Lewis Baker, with the former Chelsea boss insisting the media should 'blame him' if they didn't make it.
Three members of Chelsea side which overcame Manchester City 5-2 over two legs in the 2015 FA Youth Cup final, which featured Brown and Solanke, have since featured for the Three Lions.
