Pedro hit a brace for Chelsea as they beat Peterborough 4-1 to book their place in the fourth round of the competition.

Michy Batshuayi and Willian also scored, while Tom Nichols pulled one back for the League One side at Stamford Bridge, as John Terry saw red.

Ten-man Middlesbrough scored three times in the second half as they beat Championship side Sheffield Wednesday 3-0.

Grant Leadbitter opened the scoring on 58 minutes and Daniel Ayala was dismissed a minute later. Alvaro Negredo made it two on 67 minutes and Martin de Roon completed the scoring in added time.
