FA Cup final to have unprecedented levels of police presence as Wembley boosts security following Manchester terror attack

Police presence will be at an unprecedented level as hundreds of thousands of football supporters descend on Wembley over the Bank Holiday weekend.

While the Metropolitan Police have opted against deploying the army at the national stadium, they have promised ‘extra armed officers on foot patrol’ around the area for Saturday's FA Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea, Blackpool and Exeter’s League Two playoff final on Sunday and the Championship playoff final, where Reading and Huddersfield meet on Monday.

The FA Cup final will be the first time a major football match has been played with the terror threat level at ‘critical’.
