Enzo Maresca defends his comments after Chelsea's FA Cup defeat by Brighton and insists the Blues are a different club to the one that won a glut of major trophies

Enzo Maresca defended the use of his cliché after being dumped out of the FA Cup by Brighton last weekend, saying Chelsea are now a different club to the one that used to win for fun.

Maresca had angered fans after losing 2-1 at the Amex Stadium by saying: ‘If there is something good after a defeat, it is that we can be focused on the Premier League and the Conference League.’

With Chelsea returning to Brighton in the Premier League on Friday night, Maresca was asked if he stood by that statement, and he insisted the club is not ready to fight on all fronts.
