Chelsea coach Steve Holland has agreed to join Gareth Southgate’s England regime.
Southgate is expected to be named England manager in the next 24 hours after his appointment is ratified at an FA board meeting on Wednesday.
He wants the highly-rated Holland to join his staff on a full-time basis. Chelsea, though, would prefer Antonio Conte’s assistant to continue splitting his time between the two roles so not to disrupt their season, which is moving along nicely under the Italian.
As a result the FA and Chelsea are understood to have compromised, with Holland remaining in his dual role before taking up a full-time position with England at the end of the season.
