It’s not easy being an England supporter right now after Sam Allardyce’s swift departure as manager followed the embarrassing defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016.

But as Gareth Southgate prepares to lead the team into the World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia, it’s not all doom and gloom for international football in this country either.
