Chelsea handed Manchester United a 4-0 thumping on Jose Mourinho's return to Stamford Bridge in a game they controlled from the first minute.
Pedro Rodriguez gave the hosts the perfect start when he latched on to Marcos Alonso's long pass before rounding David De Gea to score after just 30 seconds. Although the midfield battle was fairly even, Chelsea always looked dangerous and doubled their lead after 21 minutes when Gary Cahill volleyed home from a corner.
United's bright start to the second half fizzled out before Eden Hazard showed his class with a wonderful jink and shot into the far corner.
