Roy Hodgson hopes Ross Barkley’s £15million move to Chelsea can boost Crystal Palace’s chances of signing loan star Ruben Loftus-Cheek permanently.

Barkley is set to sign for the Premier League champions from Everton and Palace are still interested in keeping Loftus-Cheek at Selhurst Park beyond this season.

The 21-year-old England international has impressed in south London, though Palace would have to pay more than the £15m that Chelsea are getting Barkley for.
